about me!
Hi, there!
My name is Alex (he/him), and I'm a student at the University of Virginia majoring in Computer Science and Music. I'm from Fairfax, VA, and I graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, where I did computational neuroscience research on gene expression in mice.
My past experience includes a software engineering internship at Brightspot, where I wrote backend code for a client-facing content management system, cybersecurity research at UVA through the Dean's Undergraduate Research Fellowship, culminating in a paper I coauthored (soon to be published at USENIX, a major cybersecurity conference!), and an internship at Tunnl, where I performed data analytics using machine learning techniques and created my own RNN model for predicting television ratings.
At UVA, I'm a Resident Advisor, where I empower first-years to find their voice at UVA and a teaching assistant for APMA 3080 (linear algebra). I'm pursuing a distinguished major with a concentration in performance in music, competing nationally, holding a distinguished major recital, founding my own sextet, performing regularly around Charlottesville, and collaborating with a variety of musicians at UVA.
In my free time, I love to play casual badminton, spend time outdoors, and learning languages!
